The Many Gates to Caelum
Half-Elf Dragon Sorcerer
Eldon was born of an affair between Lord Alton Darkfall and Talayne Baenret, the daughter of a noble Drow House in the Underdark. After his birth, nearly the entirety of House Baenret was assassinated by a dissenting Drow faction, and Eldon and his half-brother Theren were adopted into House Darkfall by Lord Alton.
Raised among three human step-siblings and alongside his older Drow brother, Eldon was always loved by his father, who saw in Eldon remnants of the deceased Talayne, and was a favorite of his human siblings Kelthern and Meridia. However, among other members of the court Eldon was looked upon with some disdain, being a bastard and a half-elf to boot. When he reached adulthood, Eldon developed sorcerous powers, from a draconic bloodline borne of House Darkfall’s ties with Tavreth the Emberlord. While his father and his brother Kelthern encouraged his magical potential, the rest of the court looked even more unkindly upon Eldon, and Eldon set off to find adventure, escape from persecution, and the power that he had never been able to wield in Lycedion.
Eldon first met the Party en route to Phandalin, where he among others were hired by Gundrin Rockseeker to escort Sildar Hallwinter and supply caravan to the bordertown. Over the course of their adventures, Eldon made fast friends with Amafrey and Sildar, who invited him into the Lord’s Alliance. Eldon also quickly had to learn to restrain himself when it came to exercising his newfound powers, especially as it came to dispensing justice. In his greatest moment of over-zealousy, Eldon accidentally killed his fellow Party member Ash’ryn, and though she was later brought back to the world of the living, memory of the incident has plagued him ever since.
Around the time of the Caligan occupation of Phandalin, Theren Darkfall found Eldon and bade him return to Lycedion. After aiding in the liberation of Phandalin, during which he rode the dragon Venomfang, Eldon knighted Amafrey in the ruins of Thundertree, bequeathed his staff to Ash’ryn, and returned home to Lycedion to rule in his ailing father’s stead.
